DroneTalks Academy has launched its 2026 training programme, offering a range of expert-led courses covering UAS regulation, SORA 2.5 methodology, U-space, UTM, and airspace integration. The programme is designed for professionals who are looking for a practical understanding of how drone operations fit within evolving aviation frameworks, combining regulatory knowledge with real-world application.
The 2026 calendar includes two main in-person group trainings. The first is a five-day UAS Regulatory & SORA 2.5 Training, which will take place from 8-12 June 2026 at the BCN Drone Center in the Barcelona region, Spain. The second is a four-day U-space & SORA 2.5 Training, that will be held in Berlin from 28 September to 1 October 2026.
The Barcelona training provides a structured overview of the European regulatory framework for unmanned aviation, including the role of EASA, the Basic Regulation, and Regulation (EU) 2019/947, and key developments such as U-space. It also introduces participants to the US FAA framework to highlight differences in regulatory approaches. The course is divided into two parts: an initial focus on regulation, and then an in-depth exploration of the SORA 2.5 methodology, where participants learn how to assess operational risks and prepare authorisation requests.
The Berlin training focuses on the U-space ecosystem and on its role in enabling scalable drone operations in European airspace. It covers concepts like U-space service architecture, the role of U-space Service Providers, and also the interaction between U-space, ATM, and UTM systems. Also with a dedicated SORA 2.5 module, providing a practical, hands-on approach to risk assessment through real operational use cases.
In both trainings, participants benefit from a combination of classroom sessions and practical insights. The Barcelona programme includes live demonstrations such as U-space services, Remote ID, contingency procedures, and BVLOS drone operations, and the Berlin training emphasises applied learning through case studies and expert-led discussions.
In addition to the scheduled group sessions, DroneTalks Academy offers customised training programmes tailored to the specific needs of organisations. The tailored programmes focus on specific areas such as SORA 2.5, UAS regulation, U-space, or airspace management.
These training opportunities are flexible and can be delivered at the organisations’ premises or online, tailored to each team and scheduled around availability. The content, the format, and the duration are adapted to the specific objectives, supporting ongoing projects and operational challenges. Real scenarios and internal processes can be integrated into the sessions, ensuring practical application. Participants gain both theoretical understanding and practical tools, templates, and guidance to support implementation. The programmes are delivered by experienced instructors who have backgrounds in aviation authorities and international regulatory development, including contributors to the SORA methodology and former members of organisations such as EASA, JARUS, and national aviation authorities.
Beyond technical content, the training sessions also provide networking opportunities, which allow participants to connect with professionals from the drone and aviation sectors. Participants who complete the trainings will receive an official certificate and will also gain a clear, practical understanding of how to navigate UAS regulations, apply SORA 2.5, and integrate drone operations into increasingly complex airspace environments.
