Show Notes

Have you heard about the Israeli National Done Initiative (INDI)?  Maybe not, but now you have a chance to learn more.

Claudia Bacco met with Dror Ben-David – Israel Drone Initiative (INDI) subject matter expert, Libby Bahat – Head, Aerial Infrastructure Department, Civil Aviation Authority of Israel and Ami Weisz – Chief Engineer, Manager, Aircraft Certification Department, Airworthiness Division, Civil Aviation Authority of Israel to better understand the work they’ve accomplished to date and looking ahead for the future.

The first thing to note is that Israel has a lot of flying under their belts and this seems to not be a well promoted topic. There were also many surprising discoveries during the discussion:

  • The CAA of Israel works with aircraft developers to identify airworthy challenges and work together to resolve for success
  • Funding is available to work within the INDI programme in a collaborative manner with 60% of the costs of the work during this time funded
  • How Israel is currently implementing U-space, it’s a bit different
  • What is the real need behind BVLOS?

You need to listen to hear the answers.
