Yesterday, most of the Skypuzzler team gathered at the test site in Susådalen, approximately 75 km southwest of Copenhagen, to witness the tech team conducting test flights of real-world scenarios.

Having done several tests in the open air over the past 3 years, this test flight was a particular milestone, as it showcased iDATC’s ability to deconflict in real-world scenarios with several drones simultaneously.

Skypuzzler’s model-driven approach ensures the algorithm adheres to the fundamental principles of aerodynamics and physics. This was evident in the drones’ routing, which was based on aerodynamic constraints, speed profiles, and range limits.

Apart from getting some fresh air away from the Copenhagen office, witnessing Skypuzzler’s algorithm in action gave the rest of the team insight into iDATC’s functions and complexities, making it more apparent why employing a deterministic model-driven approach is crucial for maintaining flight safety while enabling scalable drone operations.
