FTEJerez has taken another step forward in its commitment to excellence in Air Traffic Control (ATC) training with the incorporation of new state-of-the-art simulators, recently approved by AESA.
The simulators, supplied by UFA, a leading provider of ATC simulation systems, are now fully operational at FTE’s three training sites — Jerez, Madrid and Barcelona — representing a total investment of approximately €2.5 million.
Key features include 4K visual technology, an automated control system equivalent to SACTA, 360-degree traffic surveillance from the tower, advanced radar functionalities, aeronautical ground lighting including stop bars, and the capability to create bespoke simulation exercises tailored to each client’s specific requirements.
The airspace and environments have been internally designed by FTEJerez and implemented by UFA. Among them, the virtual aerodrome “Sherry” stands out for its flexible design, which supports training from basic to advanced levels, featuring two parallel runways, independent parallel approaches, Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) management with and without radar, simulation of multilateration failures, and a platform scalable to different operational complexities.
Thanks to this important addition, FTEJerez will provide an even more realistic and technologically advanced practical training experience to the almost 90 ENAIRE-selected students who have chosen FTEJerez for their preparation prior to joining the various ATC units of the public entity.
With this new infrastructure, FTEJerez strengthens its position not only as Spain’s leading ATC training centre, but also as an international benchmark, reaffirming its commitment to technological innovation and academic excellence.
