More than half of the 150 candidates selected by ENAIRE, Spain’s national Air Navigation Service Provider, chose to train with the Jerez-based organisation, which also operates ATC training centres in Madrid and Barcelona
Last Friday, 8 May, at the González Byass wineries in Jerez de la Frontera, FTEJerez held the graduation ceremony for 42 air traffic control students selected by ENAIRE, the public company responsible for managing air navigation services in Spain.
The students, from the training centres in Jerez, Madrid and Barcelona, successfully passed last year’s national selection process for air traffic controllers, one of the most demanding and competitive recruitment processes in the Spanish aviation sector. The event was attended by Arancha Hernández Rodríguez, ENAIRE’s Director of People, who joined the ceremony as guest of honour alongside students, families, instructors and representatives from the aviation industry.
One of the most significant figures is that more than half of the candidates selected by ENAIRE in last year’s recruitment campaign chose to complete their training with FTEJerez, consolidating the Andalusian company as Spain’s leading ATC academy. This growth has been reflected over the past year in a significant expansion of the company’s air traffic control division. In addition to strengthening its management and instructional structure, FTEJerez has expanded its activity with new training centres in Madrid and Barcelona, complementing the training services the organisation had already been offering from Jerez.
The company has also made major investments in simulators and training technology at a particularly important time for the European aviation sector, marked by increasing air traffic levels and a growing need to recruit new air traffic controllers over the coming years.
Speaking during the event, Oscar Sordo, FTEJerez CEO, commented that “the future of the sector necessarily depends on attracting and training a new generation of highly qualified professionals, and we are proud that so many candidates have chosen to undertake that training with us”.
For her part, Arancha Hernández Rodríguez, ENAIRE’s Director of People, highlighted during her speech that “every year, more and more of you choose FTEJerez to complete your ATC training”.
Hernández Rodríguez also praised the work of the organisation’s instructional team, “who not only provide technical knowledge, but also convey a way of understanding the profession based on excellence, discipline, and respect for the highest standards of quality and safety”.
ENAIRE is currently continuing with the selection process for its latest national ATC recruitment campaign.
