During the 2025 NBAA-BACE conference in Las Vegas, ForeFlight announced an expansion of its agreement with Aireon, the leading provider of space-based ADS-B data services. Through this collaboration, ForeFlight has integrated Aireon’s high-fidelity surveillance data across the ForeFlight ecosystem for Business and General aviation customers, significantly expanding coverage and providing unprecedented visibility of their aircraft anywhere in the world.
“ForeFlight and Aireon have similar core missions — creating tools and resources to help make aircraft operations safer and more efficient. We look forward to the collaboration between two best-in-class industry stakeholders to further our shared goals,” said Don Thoma, Aireon CEO.
Traditional ground-based ADS-B coverage has natural limitations, leaving gaps over oceans and remote regions. By leveraging Aireon’s space-based ADS-B network, ForeFlight Flight Tracking with Enhanced Coverage eliminates those blind spots with industry-leading accuracy and reliability. Powered by AireonSTREAM, the system delivers high-fidelity surveillance-quality data that enhances tracking, situational awareness, and analytical tools, ensuring operators have the most detailed picture of their flights anywhere in the world.
With Aireon’s global data, ForeFlight Flight Tracking can support operators seeking to comply with ICAO’s Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) requirements. Operators can view a map of airborne aircraft with positions updated at least once per minute as well as visualize and receive alerts for aircraft in distress. Furthermore, operators can take advantage of ForeFlight’s 24×7 Flight Following service, integrating software and services into a comprehensive solution.
