ENAV signs contract for the modernization of radar surveillance systems at six Italian Air Force bases

ENAV has signed a contract with TELEDIFE for the modernization, by 2032, of radar surveillance systems at six operational Italian Air Force bases: Grosseto, Trapani, Gioia del Colle, Istrana, Amendola and Galatina.

The project will be carried out by a Consortium led by ENAV, acting as lead contractor, Techno Sky (a 100% ENAV Group company) and Leonardo.

The contract has a total value of approximately 102 million euros including options and foresees the renewal of radar sensors for air traffic control and the implementation of an advanced maintenance service under a Service Level Agreement (SLA).

ENAV Group’s share under the contract amounts to 43.2 million euros.

This strategic program completes the modernization plan for the Air Force’s air traffic radar systems, for which the same consortium had already been engaged in 2024 for the Sigonella operational base, currently under development.

The contract represents a challenge for the consortium, which will modernize the radar network over a timeframe spanning from 2026 to 2032, also involving the Decimomannu and Sigonella bases for the maintenance component.

The adoption of the SLA confirms the Ministry of Defence’s intention to strengthen its synergy with Techno Sky in long-term maintenance initiatives.
