DICOM Awarded ATC & Meteorological Contract for Solomon Islands

A Complete ATC and Meteorological System for Solomon Islands Airports

DICOM Technology Co., Ltd. announced the successful award of a major ATC and meteorological system project in Solomon Islands, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued expansion across the Pacific aviation sector.

The contract covers the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of a fully integrated Air Traffic Control (ATC) and meteorological solution for two key airports, delivering ICAO-compliant infrastructure to enhance operational safety and efficiency.

Project Scope: Two Strategic Aviation Gateways

The project will be implemented at two critical aviation hubs:

  • Honiara International Airport (HIR) — the country’s primary international gateway
  • Munda Airport (MUA) — an important domestic and regional aerodrome

Both airports will be equipped with a comprehensive ATC and meteorological system, fully compliant with ICAO standards and certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Solomon Islands (CAASI).

Powered by DICOM Core Technologies

At the core of this integrated solution are DICOM’s proprietary, mission-critical systems:

  • ICS2020 — Voice Communication Control System (VCCS), IP-based and ED-137B/C compliant
  • D-AW21 — Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS)
  • CAS2020 — Crash Alarm System
  • Skylogix (Comprehensive Recording and Replay System) — advanced voice recording and replay platform
  • TMCS (Total Monitoring & Control System) — centralized monitoring and management of all ATC infrastructure across both airports

These systems ensure seamless communication, real-time weather monitoring, and centralized operational control within a unified platform.

Integrated Aviation Systems Across ATC and Meteorology

Complementing DICOM’s core platforms, the solution incorporates leading aviation systems across the full ATC and meteorological spectrum:

  • VHF Radio Communication System
  • HF Radio Communication System
  • VHF Direction Finder (VDF)
  • Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS)
  • Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) sensors & displays
  • Navigation Aids (NDB, Aerodrome Beacon)
  • KVM Matrix Switch System
  • CADAS ATS Flight Strip Terminals
  • Time Distribution System (TDS)
  • ATC Consoles
  • Multiband Scanning Receiver

Complete End-to-End Delivery

DICOM’s scope spans the full project lifecycle — from detailed design and factory testing, through international logistics, on-site installation, system integration, operator training, and final Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ICAO/CAASI standards.
