Azerbaijan Strengthens Air Traffic Infrastructure with Jotron VHF Radios

Jotron specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing world-leading communication products and systems for land, sea, and air applications. After an open tender process in 2024, the company was awarded the contract for the supply of complete VHF radio systems to Azerbaijan Airlines headquarters in Baku, and to the country’s regional airports. The contract was signed with Azerbaijan Airlines, and the radio systems will be operated by AZANS (Azeraeronavigatsiya).

Jotron supplies ATC radios to Azerbaijan

AZANS is the responsible body for ATC within the airspace of Azerbaijan Republic. Azerbaijan Airlines is the national flag carrier and largest airline of Azerbaijan.

The route network within the airspace of Azerbaijan Republic amounts to around 12 000 km with FIR 164,500 sq km. In recent years, Azerbaijan has experienced a rise in air traffic, driven by global changes and the restructuring of flight routes.

Jotron has been a partner for AZANS for critical communication infrastructure development for many years, with delivery for Baku ATC, ensuring an extended supply and seamless integration with their existing systems. The recent contract with Azerbaijan Airlines, signed in 2024, was successfully commissioned in 2025, highlighting a key milestone in continued collaboration. In this project, Jotron delivered more than 70 state-of-the-art ATC VHF radios, along with last-resort emergency transceivers, power amplifiers, and Radio Remote Controller (RRC) solutions for emergency radio systems. To further enhance safety and reliability, AZANS will also have Jotron’s Remote Control and Monitoring System (RCMS), ensuring secure remote control and monitoring from AZANS headquarters in Baku with the country’s external radio sites.
