ADLC has been granted a Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) by the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA), marking a major milestone for Belgium’s unmanned aviation sector. The approval is the first LUC in Belgium to include dangerous goods within its operational privileges.
The certificate was formally presented by Ms. Patricia Van Acker, Head of Unmanned Aircraft Systems – Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport (Belgium) during the Xponential Europe Conference in Germany, underscoring the national significance of the achievement and Belgium’s commitment to innovation in advanced air mobility.
The certification process was supported by Unifly Consulting, the professional services division of Unifly, which provides regulatory, operational and technical expertise to drone operators seeking operational authorisations and organisational approvals under the European UAS regulatory framework.
A Light UAS Operator Certificate is the highest level of organisational approval available under EU Regulation 2019/947. It allows UAS operators, within the scope of their granted privileges, to self-authorise certain operations without seeking individual approval from the national aviation authority for each mission. As such, a LUC demonstrates a high level of organisational maturity, safety oversight and regulatory compliance.
For ADLC, the LUC creates a strong foundation for expanding advanced drone operations, including beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) missions, specialised transport operations, and the safe and compliant handling of dangerous goods by unmanned aircraft. The approval positions ADLC among the most advanced aerial logistics operators in Belgium and sets a new benchmark for complex UAS operations in Europe.
Receiving this LUC is an important step for ADLC and confirms our long-term commitment to safe, reliable and innovative aerial logistics, Including dangerous goods within the scope of our certificate opens the door to new mission profiles and allows us to support critical logistics operations with the highest standards of safety and compliance.” Ryan Quintaes, CEO of ADLC
ADLC is a Belgian aviation and logistics company specialising in critical and time-sensitive transport, emergency logistics, and high-value or high-risk cargo operations. With deep expertise in both aviation and specialised logistics, the company supports government stakeholders, industrial partners, and other sectors where speed, precision and regulatory reliability are essential.
In support of ADLC’s application, Unifly Consulting provided end-to-end guidance across the certification process, including SORA risk assessment support, the development of manuals, procedures and safety documentation, and preparation for the authority evaluation process. This helped establish a compliant and future-ready framework for ADLC’s continued operational growth.
“Obtaining a LUC with dangerous goods privileges requires a very high level of organisational maturity, operational discipline and regulatory preparation. We are proud to have supported ADLC throughout this process and to help enable a new benchmark for advanced drone logistics operations in Belgium and across Europe.”Marco Ducci, Head of Unifly Consulting
This first Belgian LUC including dangerous goods privileges marks an important step forward for the country’s drone ecosystem. It highlights how advanced regulatory approvals can enable new logistics use cases while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational control.
